Compostable waste bags in the office
Environmentally friendly bin liners from a Tyrolean family business
At the “Austria’s Best Family-Owned Businesses 2025” event, Peter Zeman was introduced to the Tyrolean family-owned company NATURABIOMAT®. Today, we use their compostable bio-bags and large trash bags made from recycled plastic in the office, and all employees received a sustainable goodie bag.
At the“Austria’s Best Family Businesses 2025”awards ceremony held in the Aula der Wissenschaften in Vienna, two companies were honored that share many common traits: a commitment to sustainability, long-term entrepreneurship, and a clear focus on quality. Zeman Beteiligungsgesellschaft mbH received the award for Vienna’s best family-owned business, while NATURABIOMAT GmbH from Schwaz won the Tyrolean state title.
During the event, Peter Zeman met the Margreiter family, the owners who have been running NATURABIOMAT for three decades. The company is considered a pioneer in certified compostable packaging and trash bags made from renewable raw materials and supplies its products to customers throughout Europe. The exchange quickly developed into a concrete idea: when two outstanding family businesses get to know each other, our team should benefit from it, and so should the environment.
The Zeman Group has therefore purchased a selection of NATURABIOMAT® products: compostable trash bags and food storage bags, trash bags made from recycled plastic, and dog waste bags. These are used both at the office and distributed to all employees as a small, sustainable gift. Everyone received a package to take home, packed in a Zeman organic cloth bag.
