Observation tower on the Pyramidenkogel
Perfect symbiosis of wood and steel at the world’s highest wooden observation tower – After 44 years, the observation tower on the Pyramdienkogel in Carinthia has been replaced.
The new tower, an elliptical timber and steel construction, was erected by the “ARGE Pyramidenkogel Rubner – Zeman” consortium. The structural timber and steel construction winds its way into the sky like a screw. With 441 steps up to the viewing terrace, 100 meters to the top of the antenna and around 300 tons of steel inside, the new landmark on Lake Wörthersee is currently the highest wooden viewing tower in the world. A special attraction is also the highest building slide in Europe, which leads almost 52 meters into the depths.
