Cork stadium
UPDATE and photo gallery. New construction of the Páirc Uí Chaoimh stadium in Cork City/Ireland.
The “Páirc Uí Chaoimh” stadium is the venue for the traditional finals of the provincial hurling and Gaelic football championships as well as the venue for concerts by artists such as Bruce Springsteen, Prince, U2, The Stone Roses, Michael Jackson, Oasis, etc.
It is located in the city of Cork and is the most important stadium in the province of Munster. With a population of around 400,000 in Cork County, the “Gaelic games stadium” has a capacity of around 45,000 spectators.
The stadium and “the holy field” with its oversized dimensions of 144 x 88 m have now been completely renovated.
Zeman Stahlbau was commissioned to build an impressive steel structure for the roofs of the north and south stands.
Welded steel girders with a running height of up to 1.50 m and a cantilever of 25 m, “business as usual” for Zeman, were installed above the Northstand.
The spatial steel truss construction over the south stand was new territory even for the experienced Zeman steelworkers. A total of 10 double trusses were assembled on the laydown area. The dimensions of each frame of approx. 45 m in length, 10 m in width and a height of almost 18 m and, above all, the unit weight of almost 70 tons showed the limits of even the heaviest mobile cranes available in Ireland.
The entire steel structure, weighing around 900 tons, was calculated and planned at Zeman in Vienna, produced at the Zekon production facility in Poland and assembled by Zeman in Ireland. The complete opening of the PuC stadium took place in July 2017 with a “Gaelic football game”.
