Zeman Group at the steel construction day of the HTL Mödling
On 11 February 2025, we took part in the annual Steel Construction Day at the HTL Mödling – an important event for prospective civil engineers and steel construction technicians. Together with our long-established Viennese companies Zeman & Co and Waagner Biro steel and glass, we were on hand to talk to students and teachers about innovative solutions in steel construction and provide practical insights:

DI (FH) Csendes (Zeman & Co) – himself a graduate of HTL Mödling 30 years ago, gave a lecture entitled “Steel construction – what is it?”. He explained the sustainability of steel, the future of this building material and the impressively high recycling rate compared to other building materials.
DI Dr. Brandstetter (Zeman & Co) presented the main bracing columns of DC Tower 2, which were manufactured using a weight-optimised composite construction method. He explained the technical challenges and innovative solutions used in this project.
Dr René Ziegler (Waagner Biro steel and glass) took the students into the fascinating world of building envelopes made of steel and glass. He emphasised how valuable the knowledge acquired at school is in practice and how impressive it is to return to completed projects years later and experience their unique results.
The event offered us an excellent opportunity for direct dialogue with future specialists in the industry. We were particularly pleased with the great interest shown by the students, who not only asked specific questions about current projects, but also enquired specifically about career opportunities with us.
