“In addition to Gaelic football, which is only played in Ireland, the 45,000-capacity “Gaelic games stadium” mainly hosts rock and pop concerts. The stadium and “the holy field” was completely renovated with its oversized dimensions of 144 x 88 meters. Zeman Stahlbau has covered the stadium with an impressive steel ... structure for the roofs over the North Stand and South Stand. Welded steel girders with a height of up to 1.50 meters and a cantilever of 25 meters over the North Stand are “business as usual” for Zeman, while the spatial steel truss construction over the South Stand was new territory. A total of ten double trusses were assembled on the laydown area. The dimensions of each truss of approx. 45 meters long, 10 meters wide and almost 18 meters high and, above all, the unit weight of almost 70 tons showed the limits of even the heaviest mobile cranes available in Ireland. The complete steel construction, weighing approx. 900 tons, was calculated and planned at Zeman in Vienna, produced at the Zekon production facility in Poland and assembled by Zeman in Ireland.” Source: Report, Best Of Steel Construction, April 2017: Pairc Ui Chaoimh Stadium, Cork city (Ireland)
