Kurzbeschreibung
A milestone in engineering: For the first time in Europe, a roof structure of this size was fully preassembled and then lifted as a single unit onto a clinker silo using massive cranes.
The Facts:
🔸 Dome diameter: 58 meters (significantly larger than that of St. Peter’s Basilica in Rome)
🔸 Weight: 320 metric tons
🔸 Lifting height: 37 meters
🔸 Duration of the lifting operation: 6 hours
🔸 Preparation: several months
💡 Why was it done this way?
Due to extremely high safety standards, the roof next to the silo was preassembled—a logistical and structural feat.
Zeman HDF has more photos of the impressive hoisting operation: https://zemanhdf.pl/en/realizacje/55-silos-piechcin.html
