Kurzbeschreibung

The Westfield Shopping Centre is a 200,000 m² retail and leisure centre in west London. The Shopping Centre is spread over six levels, comprising three levels of car parking (two underground), two levels of retail and a leisure complex at roof level. The main focal point of the centre is the “Wintergarden”, an insulated space with a 7,650 m² “free-form diagrid roof”. The roof structure is formed from steel members and node elements and incorporates a mix of insulated glass units and opaque cladding modules. Waagner Biro steel and glass was appointed to complete the design, engineering and construction of the Wintergarden roof, which included the engineering of the free-form geometry, to fulfill the design intent of the architects Benoy + Buchan Group.
