The Ukrainian branch PEM Buildings, “PEM Ukraine GmbH,” received the 2016 Steel Design Award from the Ukrainian Steel Construction Association for the Best Project in the category “Efficient Use of Load-Bearing Steel Structures.”
The building of the restaurant “Yurt,” with a diameter of 36 meters, was designed in the traditional style of the nomadic peoples of Kazakhstan.
For the first time in Kazakhstan, frame constructions made of SIN beams with variable cross-sections were used. Due to the efficient design and use of SIN beams in frames and purlins, as well as pre-stressed flexible connections, steel consumption was reduced by more than half compared to a project with conventional truss constructions.
